Co-director and head curator of San Diego Underground Film Festival, has programmed for Slamdance Film Festival, is currently Adjunct Faculty at CalArts, and has lectured at SDSU, Stephens College, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and UC San Diego.

Producer and co-writer of “Los Fundadores" (dir. Diego Hernández), awarded at FICUNAM, FIDMarseille and ZINEBI, as well as “El Mirador" (dir. Diego Hernández), feature in competition at the WIP “In Transit” section at Mar del Plata IFF, it premiered at Ahora México at FICUNAM where it was awarded a Special Mention from the Fósforo Jury. Producer of “Agua Caliente", feature film screened at FICUNAM, FIDMarseille and Black Canvas. Producer of the short film “Ella se queda" (dir. Marinthia Gutiérrez), which was part of the Semaine de la Critique - Cannes, Curtas Vila do Conde and Guadalajara short competitions. Currently co-producing the feature films “Solo tengo sed” (dir. Matt Porterfield) which was part of CineMart at Rotterdam International Film Festival, “El fin de la infancia” (dir. Diego Hernández) winner of the Cine Qua Non Lab award at Talents Guadalajara, and “Frio metal huella mi mente” (dir. Clemente Castor).

Kalman has been making films with Whitney Horn since their meeting as students in New York City, 2003. Their distinctive style blends lo-fi 16mm photography, dreamy electronic music, philosophical musings, and steady bursts of absurdist humor. Their films Blondes in the Jungle, L for Leisure, Two Plains & a Fancy and Dream Team have played at festivals including International Film Festival Rotterdam, BFI London and BAMCinemaFest. L for Leisure was praised as the “movie of the century so far” by The L Magazine. The New Yorker’s Richard Brody called Two Plains & a Fancy, “The most imaginative and visionary recent addition to the [Western] genre.” His most recent film, Dream Team, is currently touring festivals and venues around the world.

Screenings at Big Muddy, San Diego Underground, and Harkat 16mm Film festivals; Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, Mingei International Museum, and Hyperreal Vegas Residency. Recipient of grants from American Artists, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, California Arts Council, Avery-Tsui Foundation, and William Male Foundation. Lopex serves on the Advisory Council for the Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts at University of California San Diego.

Erica Sheu taught personal filmmaking workshops at the Academy Museum, and DIY celluloid filmmaking workshops at Mono No Aware, Whammy! Analog Media, and CalArts. Her experimental short films have premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and International Film Festival Rotterdam, among other film festivals and venues. She holds an MFA in Film/Video from CalArts, and currently works and lives in Los Angeles.
